how about a customer that sends 5 - 6 e-mails with pictures requesting prices, then comes back and says "Can you tell me how you can do this elegant cake cheap?"... I feel like saying "lady, elegant and cheap just don't go together!"...

or the customer that sent so many e-mails, in the end there were 25 exchanged between us (for a first birthday cake), and she wanted delivery to the boonies ... then wanted to reduce her price so I stupidly offered to meet her halfway, but then it had to be on her 'stay at home mom' schedule... because she had shopping to do, balloons to buy, etc... and finally when she called AGAIN I told her I had spent more time with her than I do most brides, and when I said "at this point" she screamed FINE!! and she hung up on me, (how did she know I wasn't going to say "at this point, I really need to concentrate on todays orders, I'll contact you again in July closer to the party" but then she sent me an irate e-mail chewing me to pieces ( oh, and did I mention that she had one other decorator 'quit' on this same order... I can only wonder why! ha!)...

or the customers that tell you all about the party for the kid's friends, cost is $25 per kid... favors, too, of course,,, and then say "HOW MUCH did you say for the cake?"

or the couples that are inviting 250 guests to their wedding, but then expect the cake to cost about $200 (and here, the average price per person at a wedding for the meal and booze alone, is at least $100 a pop).

or... or......

Just know that we share your pain!

(I just added a page on my website with FAQ, and included what the minimum cost is for a cake... you want to feed 5 people? here's the minimum... you want one cupcake... here's the minimum! And last night when someone called and asked if a 1 layer would be much less $ (even though it's decorated the same), I said "the minimum price is... ") Stick to your guns, you don't want to work for free and end up cranky and hating this...
