Is this all you've ever done (job wise)?....no, worked in a couple of factories and restaurants before I had children.

Part time or full time? ...Didn't even know it COULD be a job I'd love. Just meant to make cakes for my children but people started calling me to get cakes like my kids had. I was a stay at home mom, so this really worked great and became full time.

Did you take classes first or are you self taught?... Definately self taught. Classes weren't offerred in 1965 when I started. Later I took a lot of classes. Seminars ar ICES also were a big help (before when they were free).

Anybody have college certification? (such as pastry chef or bakery arts)...heavens NO, there is no need so long as you make sure never to use any allergy dangerous products. Then you can even educate yourself that way too online, if you want. I'd never cater or serve desserts that need refrigeration without a certificate though. AND insurance!

From home or from a retail space?...from home. Retail space eats into profits fast. Its hard to make an extra $3,000.00 or so a month, just to pay rent. Then too, what would I have raised...a bunch of hoodlums with no supervision...I don't think so, not me. I waited until the last one left home before I opened my retail business.

Favourite tools that are a must have?...Definately my electric turntable and airbrush. That electric turntable probably prevented a lot of problems health-wise. You can't stay 'lop-sided' forever, turning a cake while decorating it, and not have back problems eventually. Not to mention that I got all those wedding cakes done in half the time. Of course you can get pretty darn creative with that airbrush and a few stencils too!
