I've had lots of jobs, but this is my calling. I started 43 years ago when I was 10, my aunt gave me one of those aluminum tube decorators. I was awful! But my younger brothers ate whateve I made as fast as I could bake, so I got an exaggerated idea of my skills! Finally at age 30 I took a nightschool class, and learned to make roses. Since then, I've collected books and taught myself many techniques. Tried to have a cake business when my kids were little, impossible with toddlers. About 8 years ago, and I have no idea why, my Pastor asked me to make a big sheetcake for our Bishop's visit. It reminded me how much I loved decorating. So I gradually got back into the business, till it was full time.: Just curious how all of you got started in this business. Indulge this newbie please!
Is this all you've ever done (job wise)?
Part time or full time?
Did you take classes first or are you self taught?
Anybody have college certification? (such as pastry chef or bakery arts)
From home or from a retail space?
Favourite tools that are a must have?
