I totally agree. I just got back from a weekend of sharing and it confirmed my decision to stick with cake decorating only. It is what I enjoy most!


I think most of us just learned on our own by watching video tapes, and taking local classes but the biggest teacher is motivation and practice, practice, practice. I often thought that I should go for a degree but I focus in on cakes only - the pastry schools teach a lot of things I'll never use but would be nice to know if I wanted to apply for a job in a hotel's kitchen. Guess it's personal preference.



: Just curious...do most cake decorators have a pastry degree or do they take classes and do a lot of self-taught. Is a pastry degree worth it for cake decorators?
