Here in Iowa I would charge about $250. People think I am high. I've had 2 or 3 brides come for a consult, spend an hour and a half designing the cake with all the details. I have everything written down and then comes the price. One had to check with her fiancee and the other bride's mother said they had to check a couple other decorators. Never heard back from either of them. I know my prices are lower than most. A bride the other day told me she had just been to another decorator and they were a dollar higher than me. She didn't have her checkbook to pay the deposit. It has been a month and still no deposit. It wasn't this way last year. Last year when a bride came for a tasting she placed the order. I still have a bridal show in February so I am hoping that will bring me more business for next year.
