: Well yeah, kinda. CAll the lady picking up on SAturday and tell her you can't start on her Saturday cake until she pays the balance she owes you, and you are only accepting cash at this point. On Saturday, don't release her cake unless she can pay in full, in CASH. Doesn't matter if you've already started on it, that's your secret.  Are these people referring each other to you? You may have received a reputation for being a soft touch that you'll have to correct. And I'd send a letter to that caterer, too. They know better, that's just lazy.
 
: ....of non-payment!! At present, I am trying to get payment from 2 customers...and in the meantime, remembering the other 2 I never got payment from in the past year!

On the other hand....5 yrs. ago I got stiffed for $175+bank charges on a wedding cake that was picked up.  I can't remember why she didn't pay at the time, but I filed charges on her and finally (5 yrs later) got payment plus $20 from authorities.

The one who owes me $64 for her last cake (just didn't have that checkbook with her) makes an excuse every time I call her and Jack will bring it tomorrow or today or whatever she thinks will satisfy me...it never comes and she has another cake ordered for Saturday....I don't think so!!! Another one is a wedding cake equipment deposit for $60.  The caterer tossed almost all my stuff, so I charged them $50 out of their deposit check and sent them $10 back....the $60 check bounced + $5 bank charges. I called and got, "I'll send you a money order".  That was weeks ago. Called again yesterday...no response yet.

So all this is making me remember the $43+bank charges from almost a year ago....won't return my calls or respond to letters.  And the $13 one was short when she picked up her cake and would bring tomorrow!  Right.

Am I too gullible???
