Edible ink printers

I'm looking for some help. I'm using a Canon ip3500 printer(4 ink cartridges)for edible icing sheets and can not print red. I have tried ink from different companies and changed my computer settings. Nothing seems to be working. Should I invest in a printer that has 6-8 ink cartridges for better print quality and will that work? I will listen to any tips and advice. Thanks so much
