Question about Rum

I cleaned out my cooler this week and found a partial bottle of rum in the back of it. I had used it for a rum wedding cake probably 3 or 4 years ago. My question is: is this Rum still good to use or should I pour it out? None of my family drink so I have no clue whether it would still be good or not. Is it good for use of mixing with dusts like the Vodka or Everclear are? Thanks.
