: How many of you hate making GP filler flowers.  Forming mexican hats if tedious and time consuming, so I was trying to think of a way to make them quick.  There are boards and molds out there, but they just make one at a time, and I wanted to make at least 6 at a time. 

So.....

I took one of my foan gardner's kneeling pads [same type of dense foam as the little pads you buy to thin petals....I buy 5 or 6 each year on clearance for about 50 cents] and used a 1/4 inch dowel to punch 6 holes, about 1 inch apart, in a line.

All you have to do then is roll up a rope of gum paste about 6 inches long and 1/4 inch thick, place it over the holes, and roll it out to about 1 to 1 1/2 inches wide....as you do, the paste is pushed down into the holes.

Remove the strip, flip it over and you have 6 hats....center a cutter over and cut out the flower and finish as usual.

This way, I can make a bunch of 12 filler flowers in about 5 minutes!
