And so ladies and gentlemen, 3 days before the biggest wedding I've ever done, Frenchie, my 5 qt. KitchenAid mixer has decided to give up the ghost. Mixed one bowl of frosting this morning and then refused to do anything further. Not a pop, sizzle or whine, no burning smells, smoke or sparks, just...nothing. Yes, I do still have Rosie, my pink tilt-head KA, so I'll be fine for this weekend.

My questions, however, are as follows: Can this mixer be fixed? Is it worth it to have it fixed? and Is the Professional Series 6qt KitchenAid still a temperamental thing? I've noticed that it's actually less expensive than the 5 qt. commercial, perhaps there's a reason for that?

Has anyone recently bought a 6, 8 or 12 qt. mixer that really knocked their socks off?
