: I'm still a novice at this bow thing, though I'm slowly getting a little better. I've seen pictures of cakes with stripes or polka-dots on the fondant bows -- for those of you who have made those kinds of bows, are the dots and/or stripes also fondant? It seems as though it would be easier to pipe the dots, but the one time I tried (with royal), the dots just fell off as soon as they were dry. FYI, I usually use straight gumpaste to make my bows, but would fondant or a fondant/gumpaste mixture be better? Any/all tips would be much appreciated!
>>>>>>>>>>>I would think they would be fondant also. I like the fondant mixed with tylose combination the best - dries fast and looks nice. I made a dressmaker bow at 4 a.m. Saturday morning for the top of a wedding cake and by 11:30, it was dry to put on the cake.
