Take a styro dummy and stick the stems into the side of the dummy so that the flowers are upsidedown. Next pop the dummy (with flowers on them) into your oven. DO NOT TURN IT ON. But do turn on the interior oven light if you have an electric oven if you have a gas oven just leave the pilot light on and let them stay in there over night - don't open the oven door to check on them. In the morning they will be rock hard. Take them out just before arranging on the cake so that moisture doesn't have a chance to resoften them.
: There may not be much you can do. What's in the paste? Some recipe don't dry very hard [I never could get the Wilton mix to harden]. If they are still that soft, I don't know anyway to dry them well....maybe in a food dehydrator???
: I am making gumpaste roses and orchids and the gumpaste won't dry! 24 hours after making the flowers they were still soft, bendable when touched...then it became very humid outside and they became so soft that the petals wilted. I have had them in an air conditioned room for 3 days now and the flowers and petals are still bendable upon touching....why won't they dry??? What do I need to do? Help!
