Here's what I did. For the ropes, I used wooden skewers with licorice strung on them, black for the corner posts and red for the cross bars. I cut two notches in each of the black licorice posts to rest the ends of the skewers in, and then glued the ends of the skewers to the notches with red candy melts. Cut the ends off the red licorice so that it fits snugly between the posts. I know that somebody makes blue licorice now, maybe you can find it.
: I'm going to do 10 in square,1 layer cake to make a wrestling ring. It needs to be black so I'm going to use fondant since I'll never get icing really black. How can I do the corner posts? And what can I use for blue ropes? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the help I've gotten from you "pros"!
