Why not airbrush a large block of shredded wheat then pull it apart into long shreads. Some would be green but other whisps would be dry grass color just like at the beach and they're stiff enough to stand up in icing.

: Put two of your flat ones back to back. Or put gumpaste through a clay gun and dry small sections on foam.
