You can bring back the consistency by adding a few drops of glycerin to the colors. Stir it around with a toothpick and then let it sit for awhile. It will make them smoother.
: thank you so much. I think some of my problem was that I didn't make the stripes wide enough and some of my gel colors are not as wet as they were. Do you know of a way to bring them back? I left the foil on the containers and tried to get the covers back on as soon as I was done using them but they are starting to dry out a little, well I should
describe it as getting thicker or gummy like.
any advice would be great. thanks
Laureen
: I've piped rainbow colored clown bodies before using the method you described, and it worked for me. Take a piping bag, and with a small paintbrush, paint a stripe of paste coloring up the side of the bag. Use a different paintbrush for each color you want to use, and leave some space between stripes of color. Each stripe should be about 1/4 to 1/2 inch in width with white space between stripes. Carefully load the striped bag with white icing. Squeeze a little out until it starts coming out striped. Pipe and swirl as needed. The one bag doesn't last long, and refilling it would muddy the colors, so if you're doing lots of cupcakes, you would need to use several bags, but it should work.
: How would I make the frosting for cupcakes - rainbow. I thought if I coated the icing bag with color it would pipe out in those colors, no such luck. I am not sure if this is even possible. Has anyone ever done anything like this before?
