Deanna, did you have your butter and shortening room temp when you mixed it? That is the only thing I can think of that might cause that. What are your proportions of butter, shortening and sugar? Maybe you need more sugar? Not sure how to help you as I can't tell you to just run up to my house - I'm enjoying sunny 80's in Hawaii!! It is so wonderful - ocean view right outside our lanai (deck) and the ocean breeze is great!
