I may have a guitar cake soon and am interested in how other people make the 2D shape. I was thinking of getting a picture of the guitar and cutting around it as a pattern, but the picture won't be big enough to be lifesize. Any suggestions?

: I made my first ever batch of MMF today and was really excited about how easily it went together (Did it in the Kitchen Aid) and how nice it looks. I'm going to be covering a small guitar with it and am wondering if I can do details on the guitar with buttercream icing or if they should be done with royal icing. It's the white "Guitar Hero" guitar and has gray and black details. (Frets, knobs, etc.)
Thanks
