I thought I would see if any of you have some suggestions for me. I make custom cake decorations out of fondant and gum paste then ship them to my customers. I have mailed them as far as Canada. The issue is packaging them. Most of the pieces are flat sculptures i.e. Dora the explorer, cruella deville, curious george etc... the customer simply lays them on the cake then removes them prior to cutting and serving. Most people keep them as a keepsake. I was using royal icing to adhere them to a board or plate then putting bubble wrap around them. I had some larger pieces that I used a double sided tape to stick them to. I am having issues with both of these methods. The royal icing sometimes pops off the plate and the tape had been to sticky and will not readily let the piece go causing damage during removal. Any help you may offer would be greatly appreciated. If it would help to actually see what I am talking about, you can visit my site at BeeBooConfections.citymax.com and view the FondART page.
