I think a ball would be to large and shaped funny but a party balloon would work great. Does the balloon part have to be cake or can you paint the balloon and just leave it as a balloon? Use helium so it stays up then run ribbon down to the basket portion. I would put a smaller basket ontop of the 10" cake so the proportions are right. use maybe a 6" round and basketweave it then add your sugar bottles, maybe some cheese and grapes in the basket. A sugar blanket draped over the edge of the basket would complete the look. Would love to see pictures when it is done.

I can't figure out how to make the balloon part. I thought about covering an inflatable Beach ball with fondant and somehow attaching it to a 10" square cake like a basket. I think I'm going to make some cast sugar wine bottles to put in the basket. Any input is appreciated. Money is no object. ( I love customers like that!!)
