I've done it a few time, but was never good at it. A good friends of mine who has not retired from decorating used to pipe her roses on a dowel and they were some of the most beautiful piped roses I ever saw!
: Has anyone ever used a sharpened 1/4" wooden dowel to pipe buttercreme roses or other flowers onto instead of a nail?
At the bakery we used to use them to pipe mums on, using a #104 tip.
It takes a while to get used to but they work pretty well when you get the hang of it.
