Guitar Shaped Grooms Cake

I've been asked to possible do a grooms cake in the shape of a guitar. I've never done one, and I would think that cutting a cake in that shape you would have a issue with icing it; crumbs etc.. Any advice on how to give this cake a try without too much trouble?? Or do I want to do the next option I could go with & that would be an edible image on a cake of his favorite football team? I don't think they would want to pay that much extra for a more detailed cake, so, maybe I answered my own question. Thanks Everyone!
