Army Battlefield cake

First I want to say Hi to all, its been awhile since I was on.My nephew wants a Army battlefield cake. No big problem since he wants plastic Army men on it but I am trying to give it some dimension. He also wants "stand up" fire which would be royal icing, right? Does any one have any pictures I could check out? I am planning on doing it in fondant as it will be too hot for buttercream. Thanks for all your help.
