Jane: So glad you're up and running again. I find that in order to get fondant swags to stick to the sides of anything other than fondant, you need to make a tack (only word I can think of) out of a toothpick with something on the end of it like a dry ball of colored gumpaste. This "tack" secures the fondant to the cake and decorates the raw edges between swags. Also, the thinner your swags are, the longer they'll hold on to any cake.
