: I vote cloth.  If you look at the cake, you see the board is sitting on top of the fabric-looking part.  I agree there's probably no way to roll that much fondant, and, under its own weight, would never hold up without tearing....plus that would have to be done on site as well.

: www.amazingcakesbyjoanne.com  Please check out this website.  There is a cake on there with a large, light blue jewel in the center of a fondant bow.  The cake looks like a bride's dress with all pleating.  At first I thought that the pleating was a table cloth but if you look closely, it is only to the cake table.  I cannot figure out if that part of the dress is done from fondant or with real cloth.  The pleats are so perfect even under the actual 3 tiers of cake, that it might actually BE cloth.  I could have made great money on this cake but I turned it down.  She wanted that pleating done in fondant and I just don't know....It seems like it would tear trying to do that pleating with it.  Plus, you would have to roll out an awfully large circle of fondant to get that much of a flair to the dress, no?  Just wondering if you think this train was made from fondant.   Diane D
