Lightly brush the side of the fondant covered cake with some water which will make the fondant tacky when you stick it to the side of the cake. It will dry and stick no problem. Don't make the fondant swags too thick. The last swags I made were from a mold and they worked great. Placed a rose at each joint. HTH
