Hi there. Question. Most of the cakes I make are dummy cakes with sheet cakes on the side to serve to guests. I also make the real cakes, but offer a price break to make dummy cakes as I find them easier and faster to work on. The question is this. On my sheet cakes, my cut size for each guest is a one inch by 3 inch by approximately 2 and a half inches to 3 inches in height. I have many many positive feedback letters from 90% of my brides but maybe 3 or 4 times in the past 9 years since I have been doing cakes, I have had someone complain about the size of my slices after their wedding. My slice size is stated on their paperwork but who knows if they even read it. Regardless of wether or not I have made them aware of the cut size or not, if my cut sizes are on the small size as compared to other wedding cake bakers, I would like to know and can go up on the size. Any feedback would be appreciated. Obviously, I just received an e-mail complaint from a customer. So I am feeling a little jarred as we all do when we receive the negative feedback! But I try to learn from things if something is warranted. This person also said she did not have enuf cake at the wedding for everyone. It is leading me to believe that something happened to some of the cake I dropped off after I left and the venue made thing "work" because I am very careful of following the numbers on my contracts and score all of my sheet cakes myself. I also have someone at the venue sign for the cake slices. Only problem is this customer is from last October. She said she has been dealing with a family member's illness since then and this is why she waited so long to contact me. I no longer have this girl's contract so I cannot look up what the venue signed for from me. :(
