: Some of you may remember a while back about me giving a wedding cake as a gift to our neighbor's daughter for her 250 guest wedding, I was told it they were going to do everything themselves as it would be very low budget. I said I would gift the cake BEFORE I found out everything. It's passed now, but here's an update on what happened and to make others think TWICE about gifting a wedding cake. (1) We did NOT get an invitation to the wedding. (2) Her dress was $1000. (3)MOB bought grocery store cake for bridal shower (which I was invited to, go figure. (4)Wedding & reception in a very elaborate church and was told by MOB this was expensive, there is a large fee for the minister, not an optional "tip". (5)Hired hairdresser on site to do brides and bridesmaids hair (Dad said he had to pay with his reserved golf money because he didn't have checkbook with him). (6)There was a DJ. (7)MOB & hubby getting ready to go to Cancun Mexico for vacation. (8)We DID get an invitation for the other daugthers graduation AND graduation party when MOB returned boards, but guess what...she didn't order a graduation cake from me. We plan on attending the party and pigging out, I'm sure there will be a grocery store cake there...Oh well, it's a picture for my books and free advertising so I should look at it in a positive way.
>>>>>>>>>>strange situation to say the least! I would NOT offer any more "free" cakes.
