I made the cakes as follows 3=14" 2=10" 1=8" and 1=6" Wilton book call for larger sizes and serve over 300 but the bride and I decided to adjust them for a smaller guest list of 200.

I was sooo worried about the set up because I was making rum cakes and they tend to be very heavy. My main concern is putting the 8 and 6' between the two 10" with very little support.

I cut a 6" cake dummy in half, stick flowers each piece and wedged them under the two 10" with the flat side facing the cake. I put enough flowers so you couldn't see the foam, only flowers as seen in the book. I was very happy after it was set up, everything felt firm. I also used the spiked pillars that just stick right into the cake. Thanks Kathy and Anita for your sugestions. I will post a picture when I can, pics are still in my digital camera. Cl
