Usually I can get the mom's address and name as the person paying for the wedding cake - but then again that's the sort of detail we work out at the taste test - I'm still working out the kinks.
: I think it is an excellent idea But how would it work if all you had was the bride's contact :( MonaNY
: Ok, here's how it got started. I met with the bride and her family briefly at a wedding show. She gave me the information about how she would like her cake designed and tasted the flavors I had available at the show - but really wanted to taste three others. So her mom called me after the show asking if she could get the three tasteing cakes the following week because she wanted to present them to the bride at her shower. Well - since everyone gathered around the cakes to advise the bride about which was their favorite, I got quite a few orders and one other wedding cake from that one shower. SO....... since every bride and their parent this year seems to be squeezing pennies till Lincoln screams - why not offer the tasteing cakes for the bridal shower and reach out and touch more people than you could imagine (free advertising) - plus that takes care of dessert for the shower (free to the already committed bride) but you didn't have to decorate the cakes (which gives you more time for wedding cake stuff for other brides on your list). The only thing I can't figure out is how to tell the bride she can't taste my cakes at our meeting because she will be having some at her SURPRISE shower. Will have to work that out with the MOB. Another idea would be to appear at the shower in my chefs jacket looking all official and cut the cake for the girls while answering questions and drumming up business - guess that would work for those who are trying to get new customers - not us oldies having to say NO more often than is comfortable. Still thinking in New Hampshire.
