I have never used foam core boards do you need to double them and how does that work with inserting the dowel in the middle to stabelize the cakes? When inserting the dowel do you need to make sure that the dowel goes into the foam board? Guess you can tell that this is my first stacked wedding cake. I would rather stick to the plates and pillars.

: I never did. But for large heavy cakes, I slipped a plywood board under it to deliver. Otherwise, masonite will bend and that can make dowels slip. I really think 2 boards would still bend.
