I ususally use the cake drums for stacked cakes. They are 1/2" strong cardboard and you can still drive a center dowel into it. I haven't done a cake larger than four tiers stacked.

: Do you need to double masonite boards for wedding cakes? I have only used cardboard circles and have to double them to get the strength. I was planning on trying the masonite boards and wanted to make sure they were strong enough to support a stacked cake.
