Isn't that a bit like ordering a car but not knowing which model they will send you? Gee, if I were a bride I'd want to make sure and taste the exact flavor I'd be serving my guests - because wedding cakes are kinda expensive. To each their own. Then again, if they've been a fan of yours for a while then it does make sense. Can't thank you enough for your opinion.
: They don't get a choice at my tastings. I just make a 5" one layer and ice it and figure they can tell by that if they like my cake or not. Then they can order whatever else they want for the actual wedding cake. I just did a pumpkin spice cake yesterday for a wedding - girl had no idea what it would taste like, but that's what she wanted. I had a little batter left over so I made 2-6" one layer cakes and we ate one and gave one to a friend. The friend said he cut a piece and then decided he'd just eat the whole thing at once. It was really good. If they want to taste more than the white before ordering, then they just have to order a birthday cake in whatever flavor. Actually, most of my customers have had my cake somewhere and so I don't even do many tastings - none unless requested.
