Transporting filled cakes a long distance

I have a wedding cake order for next month, and I will have to travel up to 3 hours to get to the reception site, then another maybe 1 hour to set it up, and another 2-3 hours to set at the reception site before cutting into it. I will be transporting the cakes in their own covered plastic container on non skid rubber shelving. I'm wondering if the long ride is going to disrupt the filling & cause sliding, etc.? I will be placing a small dowel rod in each cake to help ensure that, that doesn't happen, but, wanted some input on this issue. My fillings will be seedless jams mixed in with my buttercream icing. Of course I will have the icing dam as well. Thanks everyone!
