Have the cake ICE cold before putting it in the car and place each tier on foamcore board so that you can drive a wooden dowel down through all layers to prevent shifting. If I were you, I'd torte the cake and place a layer of jam on one layer without icing then just icing on the next layer and jam on the third part of your tiered layers. Jam is slippery but not if placed by itself on cake layers - gives it something to hold onto. Also if you have any colored decorations on the cake, drape a sheet over the clear case it will be stored in to prevent the sun from fading your colors.
: My only advice is to have them set at least overnight so that they have time to settle and set good. I have only had slide on me and it was when I had not given the cake time to set up.
