Thanks for the advice. This cake is pretty old-school looking--has royal roses at each point of the swags. So, I was thinking I could make the roses on toothpicks (haven't ever done that) and then stick the toothpick with the rose into the edge of the cake to support the swags.


: I've done a few with fondant swags and of course, my cakes are all buttercream, too. What I've done is attached the swags with a dab of icing and then stuck in a toothpick to hold it until it is dry. Then pull out the toothpick either before or after delivering. You have to be careful where you put the toothpick or you will need something to cover up the hole.
