True, this is a lot of bother for no more than what it does, but for a bunch of garage tinkerers/inventors like me, this is exciting news and is a start for 3-dimensional CAD chocolate and cake creations.
Remember Atari Co. was founded in a garage when the world's first video game was "Pong".
We are already on the verge of having 3-dimensional holographic monitors and televisions, thus all of our currently so-called hi-tech LCD and plasma TVs and monitors will be antiques in a few short years.
CandyFab 4000 has a LONG way to go, but I know the day is coming when we will be able to scan in an actual object and have a computer produce the same object in a cake, chocolate, or candy--all from the 3-dimensional CAD scan of the object itself.
Sears & Roebuck already has such a device available for woodworkers. CAD food fabrication is not too far away, but at the age I am now, I don't think I will live to see it.
As for me, I wish they'd come up with a sure fire way to make caramel to stay on an apple! :)
