: Hello All,

I am about to give up on making chocolate chip cookies! For about the last two years now, I have attempted to make chocolate chip cookies, and they turn out flat, with the chocolate chips sticking out.

Here is my recipe that I am using: (it is on the back of the chocolate chip package)

2 1/4 cups plain, all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 sticks butter
2 large eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

Does anyone know what is wrong with the recipe? Why are my cookies not baking up, nice an puffy?

All the best,

Susan

I know you have gotten several posts in answer to your question. I too had the same problem and this is what I did. I follow the recipe on the bag of chocolate chips exactly, but instead of 2 large I use 1 small or 1 medium egg. The recipse has too much moisture in it. The dough will be stiff, but the cookies will not run all over the pan. Do not over cook the cookies. Try this idea, I think it will help.
