I dissolve 1/2 to 3/4 cup cocoa in just enough boiling water to make a smooth, thick paste. Allow to cool and add to the butter/crisco mixture before adding the sugar. I also add brown food coloring if I need a really dark shade.
: How do I get this icing nice and dark, and what should I use, cocoa powder, melted choc?
