: Carolyn is correct. the cake dr cookbook takes a german chocolate mix and adds an entire bottle of red food color to it. Paula Dean has a wonderful Red velvet on the food network site. Good Luck 

: : The local grocer does not have in stock the red velvet cake mix. It seems like somewhere I read a recipe which called for german sweet chocolate cake mix. I loaned my cake mix doctor book to someone and now they can't find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
