Hmmm....not sure...I've never had that happen. I've baked it in large layers many times without any problems, and it has never overran the pan. Maybe you could try baking in a 3 inch deep pan instead.
: Jeff, thanks for posting these great recipes. I made the choc. velvet recipe. I put on batch in 10in pan. First it overflowed, it took well over an hour then sank when cooled. What did I do wrong? Is this not a good recipe for big layers? Did I put too much in the pan? Should I bake at 350? Any help would be fab.
