Custard Filling Recipe

I have a request for a Custard filling for a wedding cake. I don't have a recipe for one, and wondered if any of you would happen to have one to share? I would prefer a "Safe" version if possible. Is there a canned kind that would be considered safe, and yet taste great? Thanks!
