I use about 3 tablespoons of cocoa to one box of butter cake mix. And thanks for the tip on buying a big bottle of red food coloring; that would save a lot because the price was $1.10/bottle and has now jumped to $1.98/bottle. Nicole
: If you were mixing 5 at once, you might get by with one less, but, yes, pretty much one bottle per recipe will be needed to get the red color, depending on how much cocoa you add [or if you use a chocolate mix].
: Question: I do a red velvet cake using a mix and it calls for 1 oz. bottle of red coloring. If I'm making up more than one box of mix, will I still use a 1 oz. bottle PER mix? EXAMPLE: if I make up 5 boxes, will I still use 5, 1 oz. bottles of coloring? Thanks
