Actually, the milk is more an issue than the butter, but if you freeze the extra icing, it will keep for several months as long as you make sure the container it is in is completely air tight. When freezing it, the dry freezer air is the enemy. I freeze my extra icing all the time, and I've used some that was as much as a year old with no problems.
: Butter is the problem here. I feel that a couple weeks in the fridge or a month in the freezer will do it. If you eliminated the butter it would probably keep for a month in the fridge.
: I have tried a new frosting,but I am not sure about the storing issue. I am not sure if it needs to be refrigerated and how long it lasts. Anyone have any thoughts? Here are the ingredients...flour and milk(cooked on sotve)...added to crisco, sugar, butter and vanilla. Thanks in advance!
