raspberry filling

I have been asked to do a wedding cake with a raspberry filling...the lady said that someone down by St. Louis had done a cake for her that had a raspberry & buttercream icing filling mixed together..I have been trying to mix this and I do not seem to come up with the right mixture...it is rather runny and more of a buttercream taste...thanks for any help JAN
